Cool like a cucumber, and the perfect amount of tang. Greek Tzatziki is a simple, yet delicious Greek dip to add to your life.
Tzatziki is the perfect dip to make for veggie platters, and even better on chicken dishes. Personally, I like to batch make this for the week and keep it for different uses whether it is for salads, meat, snacks, and more.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
Whole Greek Yogurt (Plain / No Flavor)
1/2 - 3/4 of a seedless Persian or English Cucumber (Grated)
Garlic salt / or powder
1 Tbsp White Vinegar
Salt & Pepper
Drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Dill (optional / finely chopped to your liking)
Steps:
In a bowl, add your Greek yogurt and all your spices/herbs.
Add in the drizzle of olive oil and vinegar.
Using a cheese grater, you're going to grate the cucumber (shredded/finely grated) into a strainer. The cucumber will get extremely liquidy.
Once you are done grating the cucumber, you're going to get a spatula/rubber scraper and push out the excess liquid from the shredded cucumber inside the strainer. We need to get rid of this extra liquid in order to not make our dip watered down.
Once done, you are going to just plop the completed cucumber (as dry as you can get it), and dump it into the bowl of greek yogurt.
Now - just mix!
Taste at this step, and add more cucumber, dill, or vinegar-based to your liking. The pro tip here is to ensure it is tangy but still has the cucumber/fresh taste.
